The show will be held at the Old Printshop Gallery on Lexington Avenue in Manhattan,  The Old Printshop has represented me and my work for many years now, and they have a large selection of my prints in their gallery.  I am sure it will be a terrific show.

Editorial Illustration Show at the Pelham Art Center

Currently, I have a number of my large political pieces up in a show at the Pelham Art Center in Pelham, NY. The show will be up until March 25th. The show’s title is OP-ED ART: IMAGE IN THE SERVICE OF IDEAS. It’s a political show trying to capture the mood of the emotional fall-out from the election, and includes works by two of my heroes, Brad Holland and Frances Jetter. Both are famous political illustrators who did tons of political art for the New York Times over the years. It’s really a thrill and an honor for me to have my work up on the walls alongside that of two of my heroes!

Demo at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop

Last weekend, I just conducted a two-day monoprint/monotype, intensive seminar for a group of experienced artists and painters at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop in New York City. They did terrific work and it was a pleasure to work with such a lively and interesting group.  Here I am demonstrating monoprint techniques to the class.

Three Shows in Manhattan

My Work is up on the walls in three shows in Manhattan right now.  The first is at the Salmagundy Club on Fifth Avenue. This is an exhibition of both etchings and monotypes by the directors of The New York Society of Etchers and the Salmagundy Club.

The second exhibition is a members show on jazz music that is up at The Society of Illustrators on East 63rd Street.

The third show is up at the Mehu Gallery on West 100th Street. This show has been extended because it received such positive response and lots of sales.

Please go see these, if you can. They are all terrific shows!

The Theme of Ugly Politics

I’ve been in numerous exhibitions in the last two months. A number of them were on the theme of ugly politics, inspired by the election tensions that ran high right up to the election.

The three judgement and courtroom scenes (shown above) were among them.  The first two are recent works, the other was done previously.

Multiple Shows and Artist Lecture

I curated two shows recently, one was a mixed media exhibition at the Mehu Gallery, and the other was the Carrier Pigeon issue 16 release exhibition that I did with Russ Spitkovsy, Carrier Pigeon Magazine’s original founder.  This show traveled to Kutztown State University in Pennsylvania, where we had another opening, panel discussion, and where I did a monoprint demo and lecture to the art students there. I was also in a political exhibition at the Westchester County Center Gallery and Cultural Center in White Plains that coincided with the election.

Monotype/Monoprint Demo at MoMA was an Honor

These photos were taken during the MoMA workshop.  In the first shot, I am showing one of my monoprints with the help of Justin Sanz, the Master Printer and Director of the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, who assisted me in running the workshop. Standing to my left in the fourth picture, is Michael Ginsberg, the President and Founder of Legion Paper. Next to him is Stephen Fredericks, original President and Founder of the New York Society of Etchers, both of whom attended the workshop. It was such an honor to have these guys there with me.  And thanks soooo much to all of my friends, and students, and former students who attended this seminar.  Its really so touching for me.

My Monotype Demo at MoMA

Bruce Waldman to do back to back monotype workshops at MoMA in conjunction with the Degas monotype exhibition that is currently showing.

I have been invited back to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) on June 14th
to conduct two, back-to-back Monoprint/Monotype demonstrations and workshops, in conjunction with the Degas Monoprint/Monotype exhibition that is on display at MoMA right now.  At the demo/workshop, I will be showing my work, teaching, and demonstrating how Degas monotype pieces were technically created.

I was initially invited to a closed-door meeting with the curators and staff of the
Museum of Modern Art before the show opened, to show my work and to do a monoprint/monotype demonstration. They wanted to be prepared to answer
technical questions from the public when the Degas Monotype exhibition opened
at MoMA. This event accompanies Edgar Degas: A Strange New Beauty.

The schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, June 14, 12:00 – 1:15 p.m.
Floor 2, MoMA Books. Free with Museum admission
Tuesday, June 14,  1:45 – 3:00 p.m.
Floor 2, MoMA Books. Free with Museum admission.
Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign-up begins half an hour prior to each workshop (at
 11:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.).
